Opera Software today (2 March) released Opera 10.50. Opera frankly claims it to be the fastest Web browser produced for Windows computers. Opera 10.50 includes a refined new design, as well as private browsing, where Opera hides all traces of sites you visit.

New Features

Below you see some screenshots of the new Opera 10.50 browser with a bit cleaner user environment than before (click on the image to close the preview).

The new Opera menu button replaces the traditional menu bar, so you have a single-point to access all of Opera’s features. Under the hood, a new JavaScript engine is introduced, Carakan, and a new graphics library called Vega. The new browser also has improved standards support for HTML5 and CSS3 (next major revision of HTML and CSS).

Firefox 3.6 Beta Available For Download

On Thursday (December 17th) the Mozilla community released Firefox 3.6 Beta 5, making it available for free download and issuing an automatic update to all Firefox 3.6 beta users. The update contains over 100 fixes from the last Firefox 3.6 beta, containing many improvements for web developers, Add-on developers, and users.

Introducing New Features

On June 16, Opera released Opera Unite, adding a server to the web browser. Opera Unite allows for several services to be hosted from the user’s computer, including a web server, chat room and streaming media. Opera Unite is available in a special version of the Opera 10 desktop browser. Opera Unite services run directly in the browser.
