The year 2011 has been a very turbulent year – I would like to go so far that I call it the Year of Satan. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all kind of people who have supported me.

The year 2011 has been a very turbulent year – I would like to go so far that I call it the Year of Satan – at least on the personal level. First a stroke, and that alone is enough to take someone out of business, since it is one of the major sicknesses. But it went well, without any physical complications (thank God, for that).

The second big disaster, was a divorce. If I had been abled to choose between those two disasters – I would choose stroke, anytime. Divorce is a nasty thing – a very painful event in the life. And I am sorry to say that this blog has been suffering from those disasters. I simply didn’t have the strength and inspiration enough to write as much as I wanted.

But however, I begin to feel better now, and make plans as usual – next year I will concentrate more on visual parts of web design (photo, graphics etc.) and I hope to make some more basic tutorials for absolute HTML beginners.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all kind of people who have supported me through all those disasters – thank you for all encouraging words, thank you for all letters and mails – thank you for everything. A special thank to my former wife – because she is what she is.

And to everybody, A Very Happy New Year!

Recently a friend of mine called me because of problems with her computer. Earlier I urged her to install an anti-virus software, but she thought it was not so important and the result of that was a crashed computer. Now, she sees the importance of anti-virus softwares.

I am amazed how it is still possible to meet people that think virus protection is not necessary. There is no way to point out much enough the huge importance of using some kind of anti-virus software. It will save you a lot of time and trouble.

More above that, it also gives you some basic protection against very serious personal consequences. Identity theft, phishing and other types of cybercrime are a growing problem on Internet and Internet security softwares help you to not get victimized.

We here on Cashrevelations.com have made a short list of anti-virus softwares which you can try for free. Together this anti-virus software trials represent a half year of free quality protection. Take advantage of these offers if you don’t have any protection.

Free Anti-Virus Software Trials

The company has large branch offices in the USA and Japan, where some anti-virus analysis and software development work are also being undertaken. F-Secure offers a free 30 day trial period.

There are more security softwares on Internet that you can try free, but be careful – some of them are well disguised malicious softwares (Malware). Download only software from companies you know well (or recommended by someone you trust) and with a good Internet reputation.

And let us remind you again: use an Internet security software to your computer.
It might ending up saving your social life and economical future.

Microsoft has made a new proposal to European Commission in an effort to address competition law issues related to Internet Explorer and interoperability.

[Press Release] Redmond, Washington.
Microsoft has made a new proposal to European Commission in an effort to address competition law issues related to Internet Explorer and interoperability.

European consumers who buy a new Windows PC with Internet Explorer set as their default browser would be shown a ‘ballot screen’ from which they could, if they wished, easily install competing browsers from the Web.

If this proposal is ultimately accepted, Microsoft will ship Windows in Europe with the full functionality available in the rest of the world. As requested by the Commission, Microsoft will be publishing the proposal in full on Microsoft’s website as soon as possible.

Wikipedia; Internet Explorer was first released as part of the add-on package Plus! for Windows 95 in 1995. Later versions were available as free downloads, in service packs, and included in the OEM service releases of Windows 95 and later versions.

Microsoft currently are providing PC manufacturers in Europe with E versions of Windows 7, which they believe are fully compliant with European law. PCs manufacturers building machines for the European market will continue to be required to ship E versions of Windows 7 until such time that the Commission fully reviews the proposals and determines whether they satisfy Microsoft’s obligations under European law.

If the Commission approves this new proposal, Microsoft will begin work at that time to begin implementation of it with PC manufacturers.

The proposal also includes a public undertaking designed to promote interoperability between third party products and a number of Microsoft products, including Windows, Windows Server, Office, Exchange, and SharePoint.

Cashrevelations.com decided to make a quick and simple overview of HTML 5 - the next version of HTML. The overview covers the basics, new features, how to start with HTML 5 and tips on useful resources.

There has been much noise about HTML 5, every developer seems to have an opinion. Some are positive and others are negative – Tommy Olsson, technical webmaster and software developer, is negative in an article: “I think it’s an abomination, but I’m probably in a small minority. It mocks everything I consider important on the Web”.

However, everything can´t stay the same at all time and Cashrevelations.com decided to make a simple overview of HTML 5, because sooner or later it will be here anyway. We hope this article gives you some insight into HTML 5.

HTML 5 – The Basics

Wikipedia; HTML 5 is the next version of HTML. HTML 5 specifies two variants of the same language – a “classic” HTML variant known as HTML5 and an XHTML variant known as XHTML5.

HTML 5 provides a number of new elements and attributes that reflect typical usage on modern Web sites. Some of them are semantic replacements for common uses of generic block <div> and inline <span> elements, for example <nav> and <footer>.

Other elements provide new functionality through a standardized interface, such as the elements for multimedia content <audio> and <video>.

Some elements from HTML 4 have been dropped, including purely presentational elements such as <font> and <center>, whose effects are achieved using CSS.

HTML 5 is backwards compatible with the way user agents handle deployed content.

Overview Of New Features In HTML 5

This summary of major new features in HTML 5 is based on Elliotte Rusty Harold’s article New elements in HTML 5. We recommend you to read his article for more details.

New structural elements

5. Editing HTML 5
Ian Hickson, editor of the HTML 5 specification, discusses the tools he uses to gather and respond to feedback and clarifies the whole “when will it be ready?” issue and gives us some details about what part of the spec he is working on now.

Summary

According to some developers it will take a while before HTML 5 is fully implemented – Ian Hickson, co-editor of HTML 5, suggests that we might have to wait till 2022 for the final draft of HTML 5.

Remy Sharp of HTML 5 Doctor writes in his article: “2022 was misinterpreted as the year HTML 5 would be ready. That’s wrong. HTML 5 is ready today”.

The truth is that this October (2009) is the last call for the HTML 5 working draft, and you can use HTML 5 already today. It’s not difficult either, if you have some experience of HTML since before.

Without prior experience of HTML 5 we on Cashrevelations.com decided to make a simple Video Landing Page in HTML 5 – as a quick experiment to find out if it was complicated, difficult and something to be troubled about.

After reading some specifications in the HTML 5 – W3C Working Draft and with help of W3C Markup Validator we did it under 1.5 hour. And the answer to our questions? No, it is not complicated, difficult and something to be troubled about. In fact, it was very easy.

The Video Landing Page in HTML 5 is available for preview and download below.

Clean White Video Landing Page

Clean White Video Landing Page Download

There are no reasons for you to not start experimenting with HTML 5 already now – it is easy, there is a lot of interesting new features, there is a huge amount of reference material and, most important, HTML 5 is the future already here.

There is one major rule in generating income from your website: A steady flow of website traffic. CashRevelations present five ways to generate low cost website traffic.

There is one major rule in generating income from your website: A steady flow of website traffic. If no one goes to your site, it hardly bares a chance of generating an income.

Ever wonder how big hit sites drive traffic to their sites? Most of them are spending big amounts of money to drive the traffic to their sites, investing in many different forms of marketing schemes and huge advertising campaigns. This is all worthwhile because they are what they are, high earning and big hitting websites.

You can’t do this if you don’t have their resources. Many new webmasters have banked on high cost methods and have ended up losing their shirt over it. But there are many ways to generate low cost website traffic without having to spend a fortune.

Here CashRevelations presents to you five ways to generate low cost website traffic.

1. Exchange Links

This is a proven method. Rarely would you see a site where there is no link to another site. Many webmasters are willing to exchange links with one another so that they could produce more public awareness about their sites.

A major prerequisite in exchanging links with other sites is having the same niche or content as the other site. They should share a common subject so there is continuity in the providing of service and information to what interests your target traffic.

Exchanging links also boost your chances of getting a high ranking in search engine results. It is common knowledge that search engines ranks high sites that have inbound and outbound theme-related links. With a good ranking position in the search engines, you will generate more traffic in your website without the high costs.

Suggestion: Link Market

2. Traffic Exchange

Traffic exchange services are the viewing of another’s site or page. For every site that you visit you get one, depending on the exchange rate, visitor in return and you both benefit from each others efforts to generate traffic.

Once again the public awareness of your sites existence is boosted.

Chose a manual surf because they give you the best result for your promoting. The only reason to use auto surf is if you want a higher traffic volume – for promotion it is useless.

Suggestion: Traffic Exchange Ranking Report

3. Write and Submit Articles

There are e-zines and online encyclopedias on the internet which provide free space for articles to be submitted. There are many freelance writers who are willing to write for you for a small fee, but If you want to save costs, you can do the articles yourself or rewrite PLR articles.

Write articles that are themed along with the niche of your site. Write something that you have expertise on, so your readers can feel your knowledge about the subject and will be eager to go to your site. Write articles that produce tips and guidelines to the subject your site has.

Include a resource box at the end of your article that can link them to your site.

Suggestion: EzineArticles

4. Make a Newsletter

This may sound like hard work because of all the articles you may need to use to build a newsletter but on the contrary, this is not so. There are many writers and sites that are willing to provide free articles as long as they can get their name in on your newsletter. This will also provide free advertising for them as well.

As your newsletter gets pass around, you can widen your public awareness and build an opt-in list that can regularly visit your site.

Suggestion: Articles Base

5. Join Online Communities and Forums

This only requires your time and nothing else. You can share your knowledge and expertise with many online communities as well as your website. You can get free advertising when you go to forums that have the same subject or niche with your site.

Let them see how knowledgeable you are with the subject. As you build your reputation, you also build the reputation of your site, making it a reputable and honest business that could be frequented and trusted by many people.

Suggestion: Google Online Communities Directory

Mozilla Firefox is a free and open source web browser descended from the Mozilla Application Suite and managed by Mozilla Corporation. Firefox had 21% of the recorded usage share of web browsers as of January 2009, making it the second-most popular browser in current use worldwide.

Firefox includes tabbed browsing, a spell checker, incremental find, live bookmarking, a download manager, and an integrated search system that uses the user’s desired search engine. Functions can be added through add-ons created by third-party developers, the most popular of which include the NoScript JavaScript disabling utility, Tab Mix Plus customizer, Adblock Plus ad blocking utility, Foxmarks Bookmark Synchronizer (bookmark synchronizer), DownThemAll! download enhancer, and Web Developer toolbar.

Firefox uses a sandbox security model, and limits scripts from accessing data from other web sites based on the same origin policy. It uses SSL/TLS to protect communications with web servers using strong cryptography when using the https protocol. It also provides support for web applications to use smartcards for authentication purposes.

The Mozilla Foundation offers a “bug bounty” to researchers who discover severe security holes in Firefox. Official guidelines for handling security vulnerabilities discourage early disclosure of vulnerabilities so as not to give potential attackers an advantage in creating exploits.

The reality on Internet is that there are people out there who want to steal your personal information. That’s why Firefox constantly refining the browser with security updates every 6-8 weeks to stay one step ahead.

Firefox security features include anti-phishing and anti-malware protection, one click site ID, protection from spyware, automatic security updates and more.

Because Firefox has fewer and less severe publicly known security vulnerabilities than Internet Explorer, improved security is often cited as a reason to switch from Internet Explorer to Firefox. [Sources: Wikipedia.org, Mozilla.com, YouTube.com]
